Co-opted MemberSharon has extensive experience in a variety school settings. This includes nine years as a head teacher of a very successful BESD School. During this time the school was accredited with a large number of awards, including Arts Mark Gold, Basic Skills Quality Mark, Healthy Schools Status and was judged as outstanding by Ofsted in 2007. It was also in the top three performing schools for Value Added in 2006. In 2007 Sharon was added to the NROLE Register (the register for outstanding leaders in education).
Sharon has worked on a number of major projects requiring her to lead at an operational and strategic level with the DfE, NCSL, LA’s, schools and alternative educational provision. This has focused on enhancing children’s learning and supporting organisational transformation. Sharon has also delivered training for the NCSL, the focus of this training for fast track teachers was her successful journey of school transformation. Other training includes Leading Learning Behaviour, Dissolving Barriers to Learning, Safeguarding Staff and Young People, and supporting with School self evaluation.
From 2005 to 2008 Sharon worked with NCSL as part of The London Challenge on the pilot programme for Consultant Leaders in Special schools. She also has experience of working with various LA’s in leading and managing the strategic overview of special provision as part of BSf.
From 2008 to 2009 Sharon worked as the principal advisor for SEN and behaviour with Cocentra as an Education Consultant. In September 2009 Sharon returns to Headship in a large school in Nottinghamshire.
Sharon has been a school Governor, is a qualified practising Ofsted inspector, a Team Teach Tutor and is a co-opted member of engage in their future.
